Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners of war in a 25-for-25 format thanks to mediation efforts by the UAE, the Russian Ministry of Defense said.
"Currently, all Russian military personnel are in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, where they are provided with the necessary psychological and medical assistance, as well as an opportunity to establish contact with their relatives," the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
In 2025, this is the first exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine. On December 30 of last year, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that, with the mediation of the UAE, Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners in a 150-150 format.
