Washington is cooperating with Yerevan in the fields of defense and security, stated U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during the signing of the Armenia-U.S. Strategic Partnership document.
"In particular, we are committed to strengthening the defense of the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia within its internationally recognized borders," Blinken announced.
He informed that in the coming weeks, a U.S. team specializing in customs and border control will travel to Armenia to work with local partners on enhancing border security capabilities. According to Blinken, cooperation within the Eagle Partner framework will also continue.
The Secretary of State further noted that Armenia is joining the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. "We are very grateful for that engagement," Blinken said.
