The security of South Caucasus is important for Iran. Esmail Baghaei, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, stated about this in a press briefing and referring to the recent visits to Armenia and Azerbaijan by Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Tasnim reports.
"Ahmadian's visit to Baku and Yerevan was planned in advance and was carried out. Our relations with Azerbaijan and Armenia are important. The security of the South Caucasus is important for us, and we will use all our opportunities to strengthen security in this important region," said Baghaei.
He noted that security should be ensured by "countries of the region, away from external interference."
