The Law On Foreign Intelligence Activities and the Foreign Intelligence Service adopted by the National Assembly on December 23, 2022, established the Foreign Intelligence Service in October 2023, which, due to the nature of its activities, will also deal with information containing state secrets.
On January 10, the Chief of the RA Foreign Intelligence Service Kristinne Grigoryan presented the amendments and addenda being proposed to the law on State Secrecy at the sitting of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.
It is proposed to provide the officers and employees of the Foreign Intelligence Service with permission to access information containing state secrets. According to the key rapporteur, permission will be provided according to current procedures.
It is expected by the adoption of the draft to ensure the regular activities of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
Answering the deputies’ questions, Kristinne Grigoryan spoke about the establishment process of the Service.
The co-rapporteur Trdat Sargsyan proposed his colleagues to vote for the draft.
The draft was endorsed.
