An investigative commission will be established during the first week of the Georgian Parliament's spring session to examine the activities of the "regime and the regime's political officials" who were in power from 2003 to 2012, (when Mikheil Saakashvili was in power), said Mamuka Mdinaradze, leader of the parliamentary majority and executive secretary of the Georgian Dream party, during a briefing held at the Georgian Dream's office.
"A temporary investigative commission will be established in the Georgian Parliament during the first week of the spring session to examine the activities of the regime and the regime's political officials from 2003 to 2012, aiming to investigate systematic crimes and assess the regime.
The commission will work for six months and prepare a report, which will then be reviewed and approved by the Georgian Parliament during the first week of the autumn session. Recommendations on political and legal responses outlined in the Georgian Constitution will be made based on the findings.
The results approved by the Georgian Parliament will be submitted to the Georgian Prosecutor General’s Office and other relevant bodies to ensure subsequent actions and the punishment of those guilty, by Georgian legislation," Mamuka Mdinaradze stated.
