Reuters. Officials from the city of Pasadena in California on Wednesday (January 8) gave an update on the still-uncontained Eaton fire which has forced 100,000 residents to flee and has killed at least five.
Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo confirmed close to another 100,000 are under evacuation warnings.
Meanwhile, Pasadena Fire Chief Chad Augustin said they expect wind condition to improve for the next days to be able to start containing the Eaton Fire, which spreads over 10,600 acres.
Chief Augustin also said 60 strike teams have been requested, including from Arizona, and 750 firefighters are working on the incident.
Raging wildfires surrounded Los Angeles on Wednesday, killing at least five people, destroying hundreds of homes and stretching firefighting resources and water supplies to the limit, as more than 100,000 people were ordered to evacuate.
Fierce winds hindered firefighting operations and fueled the fires, which have burned unimpeded since they began on Tuesday.
Five separate fires burned in Los Angeles County, all of them 0% contained according to state officials, including a pair of conflagrations that held the city in a pincer move.
