If we come from the East, we have a day-to-day developing cooperation with China and India, which includes both traditional sectors and new ones, from economic to security, Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated at a press conference.
“After establishing diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia in the Middle East, this was the first time that a Foreign Minister visited that country. Quite interesting developments are foreseen, we need to work in this direction,” the Minister said, noting that there is also an interesting and promising dialogue with the United Arab Emirates.
“After or during the recent events in Syria, we had a very short absence from that country. First in Aleppo, then in Damascus, our embassy staff had to be absent from Damascus and, accordingly, Aleppo for several days. Then they continued their work in this host country, contacts were established with the new government, we will continue to work,” Mirzoyan said.
From the Middle East, the Minister mentioned the recognition of the State of Palestine by the Republic of Armenia. “This was followed by the signing of a corresponding communiqué by me and the Prime Minister of the State of Palestine in New York,” Mirzoyan noted.
“We also have very interesting and promising partners in Central Asia. I would like to single out Kazakhstan. Over the past year, as you remember, high and highest-level visits took place. I must state that the discussions during those visits were also very rich in content. Kazakhstan is one of the states that welcomed the Crossroads of Peace. We are grateful to Kazakhstan for its readiness to contribute the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. Kazakhstan hosted one meeting and expressed its willingness to continue this hospitality," the Foreign Minister said.
"Africa is a new and interesting direction for us. Here we traditionally have a presence in the far north, for example, in Egypt. Now we are discovering the rest of Africa for ourselves. We have an embassy and staff in Ethiopia, from there we cover a number of African countries, so to speak. We have other plans and programs as well," he noted.
The Minister reminded that a resident embassy has been opened in Latin America in Uruguay. "Since I spoke about diplomatic relations, let me say that we opened offices in Serbia and Luxembourg. This year we also have plans for 2025. In the very near future, resident embassies will be opened in Hungary and Cyprus," said Ararat Mirzoyan.
