Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has stated that “Armenia’s armament is a threat to the entire region and could lead to new tensions.”
Aliyev made such a statement in an interview with local media.
“Arming Armenia will simply lead to new tensions. We do not want this, we want peace. We want the war page to be closed, while we see that Armenia and its new sponsors do not want this, but live with revanchist ideas, and Armenia is, in fact, a new source of threat for the entire region,” the Azerbaijani President said.
According to him, Azerbaijan will not simply watch Armenia’s armament from the sidelines.
“Armenia must immediately stop armament. France and other countries that supply it with arms must cancel these contracts. The weapons already supplied to Armenia must be returned," he said, expressing hope that Yerevan will accept Baku's condition on signing the Peace Treaty.
"There is nothing extraordinary there: the dissolution of the Minsk Group, amendments to Armenia's Constitution. Without this, a peace treaty is impossible," Aliyev added.
