Reuters. A Qatar Airways plane landed at Damascus airport for the first time after 13 years of suspension on Tuesday (January 7), as the airport resumed international flights.
On December 14, employees seen by Reuters were preparing Damascus International Airport to resume operations after its closure on December 8, following the fighting to oust Syria's President Bashar al-Assad.
Prior to the toppling of Assad's regime, there were limited international flights operated by Iran's Meraj Airlines and Syrian airline Cham Wings.
