The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry responded to the statements made by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, who claimed that Russia supported Azerbaijan's actions in Nagorno-Karabakh because, for the first time, Armenia has a decisive prime minister who does not submit to Moscow.
Macron also added that Paris has faced unacceptable interference from Azerbaijan in many of its overseas territories in recent months, particularly in New Caledonia, as France stands for international law and supports Armenia.
Baku has characterized Macron’s statements as groundless, provocative, and unacceptable. The spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry accused Paris of pursuing pro-Armenian policies, allegedly questioning Azerbaijan's sovereignty, and cooperating with Armenia in the defense sector.
“We demand that France refrain from actions that do not contribute to peace but rather destabilize the region”, Aykhan Hajizada stated.
