Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili signed 28 bills on his first day as head of state, some of which came into force on December 30.
Among the bills are banning the use of firearms, lasers and face-covering clothing, including masks, at rallies, increasing administrative fines for graffiti and damage to the city's appearance during protests, as well as road closures.
New grounds for arrest during public actions have been added.The illegal wearing of uniforms or similar attributes, including camouflage, is prohibited.
Former President Salome Zօurabiցhvili was banned from exercising the right to state security within a year after the end of her term of office.
According to the new legislation, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia can hire people in the police force without conducting a special competition. The processes of dismissal and hiring in state institutions have been simplified.
