Any country with a neutral stance could serve as a platform for negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, and Slovakia is not the only option, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Saturday, TASS reports.
"No, this option [of Slovakia hosting the talks] is not the only possibility. We are talking about countries that maintain a neutral position and engage in equal dialogue with both Kiev and Moscow. There are quite a few such countries," Peskov said at a news briefing in response to a question about which country could serve as a platform for negotiations on the Ukrainian conflict.
Peskov emphasized that Moscow respects the peacekeeping efforts of various countries.
"We maintain good and constructive relations with our colleagues in these countries," he said. "The list of these countries is quite extensive."
"The most important thing at the moment is to start the trajectory of such a peace process. As of now, we are unable to identify the path of this process due to the well-known stance of the Kiev regime," Peskov added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico, who recently visited Russia, expressed a willingness to offer his country's territory as a platform for negotiations between Moscow and Kiev. Putin responded that Russia is not opposed to this.
