Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock met in Ankara, the Turkish Foreign Ministry reported.
The situation in Syria, the Gaza Strip and Ukraine was discussed.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Baerbock noted that the security of the Kurds is important for the free and safe future of Syria. "It was nice to hear that the Turkish Foreign Minister also accepts this," said the German diplomat.
At the same time, Baerbock stated that there should not be any threat from Syria to Turkey's security. According to him, the Kurdish militias in Syria should disarm and join the security forces of the new Syrian Government.
Fidan also stated that the self-defense forces of the Syrian Kurds, which Ankara associates with the Kurdistan Workers' Party, do not represent Kurdish society. The Minister stated that the militants should disarm and disband themselves.
The media reports that the South Caucasus was also mentioned during the negotiations, and Fidan stated that a "historic opportunity was created to sign a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan". He noted that third parties should provide "fair and impartial" support to the process.
