The Government of Georgia promised to amend the content of the law on the transparency of foreign influence, said the Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE), Alain Berset.
A working group will be set up from representatives of Georgia and the CoE, as well as the Venice Commission, and the necessary amendments in this law will be determined, added Berset, SOVA reports.
The Secretary General of the CoE arrived in Georgia on Wednesday. The CoE emphasizes that the visit is due to the tension, extreme polarization of political debates, and acts of violence in Georgia in recent weeks. Berset met with members of the Georgian government, opposition, and the NGO sector.
