Armenia participated in the 9th World Heritage of CIS Countries international online congress.
Representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, as well as the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia participated in this event from Armenia.
Researcher Mariam Shahmuradyan presented a report on the vishapakars (“dragon stones”) of Armenia and their path to world heritage. The participants of the congress showed great interest in this topic due to the fact that vishapakars are a unique and unrepeatable monument of cultural heritage.
Specialists from Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, and other CIS countries presented in their reports the track record of including monuments in the territory of their countries on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The prospects of cooperation also were outlined at the congress.
