US President Joe Biden is "closely monitoring the extraordinary events in Syria," the White House said late Saturday as anti-regime forces entered the national capital of Damascus.
Biden and his senior officials are "staying in constant touch with regional partners," National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savett said on X.
We reported earlier that the Reuters agency, referring to high-ranking officials of the Syrian army, claims that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad left the capital Damascus amid military operations in the country and went to an "unknown direction".
