Against the background of the change of power in Syria, the Iranian side expects that the relations between the two countries will continue on the basis of common interests and the fulfillment of international legal obligations, according to the statement of the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
"The relations between Iran and Syria have a long history and have always been friendly. We expect that our relations with Damascus will continue with a reasonable and forward-looking approach based on common interests and observance of international legal obligations and agreements," the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.
