The president of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, in an interview with Public Television, clarified her words about the recent Georgian parliamentary election being rigged. At that time, in an interview with AP, she announced the use of the "Armenian carousel," which caused a scandal, reports Ekho Kavkaza.
"I want to say to Armenians by nationality [i.e. the citizens of Georgia] and Armenians [in neighboring country Armenia], where Russian propaganda is also active: there was no ethnic connotation in that [phrase] ‘Armenian carousel,’” Zourabichvili noted.
According to the president of Georgia, she had heard that "term" for the first time when she had returned to Georgia during the reign of former Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze. According to her, the same method of falsification was used also during the reign of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.
"If I'm not mistaken, in Armenia they call it the 'Georgian carousel.' There is no ethnicity in it at all," Salome Zourabichvili added.
