“Everything is under control; NatsMaidan has been thwarted, and the country’s interests will be safeguarded,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze declared at a press conference, Georgian Public Broadcaster reports.
The Prime Minister emphasized that certain groups are attempting to undermine national interests.
“Following the foiled NatsMaidan, some groups and violent gangs continue to pose a threat to the country’s interests and business activities. However, these efforts are also destined to fail. This will be the final task for these individuals. Everything is under control; NatsMaidan has been thwarted, and we will protect the country’s interests until the end,” the Prime Minister stated.
Law enforcement entered offices of opposition organizations, including the “United National Movement” youth organization, the “Droa” and “Ahali” parties. Nika Gvaramia first reported about it on his Facebook page.
Ilia Glonti from the “Daitove” organization also reported police searching his location.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has not yet issued an official statement about these incidents.
Law enforcement officers detained Nika Gvaramia, a leader of the Coalition for Change, on Wednesday. The incident occurred at the Droa party’s office, where police were conducting a search.
Tensions escalated when Gvaramia reportedly clashed with police outside the office, leading to his detention. Earlier the same day, law enforcement had entered the offices of several opposition organizations and parties.
