Irakli Kobakhidze has been nominated once again as the candidate for Prime Minister of Georgia, the country’s Public Broadcaster reports.
Mamuka Mdinaradze, Executive Secretary of the Georgian Dream, announced at a briefing following the GD party’s Political Council meeting.
“As per our charter, the party’s Honorary Chairman has the authority to nominate the Prime Ministerial candidate. It may be no surprise that Bidzina Ivanishvili has nominated Irakli Kobakhidze for the position. He was, of course, fully supported by the political council,” Mdinaradze stated.
The Georgian Dream faction will nominate Shalva Papuashvili for the position of Parliament Speaker, Mamuka Mdinaradze announced.
Mdinaradze stated that the Political Council’s session today addressed budgetary issues. Regarding the presidential elections, Mdinaradze confirmed that the election date will be set in the coming days.
“We reviewed our budgetary matters, and as you know, we have ambitious plans in this area. The date for the presidential elections will be determined after the first session of Parliament. A specific deadline has been set, and we will announce the date in the coming days, once the first session is set in the Parliament,” Mdinaradze said.
