Armenia's Investigative Committee Chairman Argishti Kyaramyan submitted his resignation. He announced his resignation in a statement issued on Monday.
“Dear countrymen, dear colleagues, the time has come to let you know about my decision to leave the position of Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia,” he said in the statement.
Kyaramyan said the decision stems from the latest “internal reevaluations derived from the situation around the activities of the overall law enforcement system.”
Kyaramyan thanked the investigative committee staff and other colleagues for the joint work. He said it has been an honor and privilege to serve in the system.
“I would like to also thank the Prime Minister and the Cabinet for entrusting me with this responsible position in this difficult and important historic era of the Republic of Armenia,” he added, noting that he has done everything within his powers to ensure domestic law and order.
Doing so, he added, was his duty and mission.
Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, in a statement issued on Monday, said he asked several high-ranking officials to resign.
