The spirit of the proposals conveyed to Azerbaijan on the opening of regional communications stems from the concept that the Armenian Government has presented in recent years.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly, Sargis Khandanyan, during the briefing.
Yerevan sent the proposals on lifting the blockade to Baku after the Kazan negotiations held during the BRICS summit, and is now waiting for a response.
“I cannot go into details. The proposal was sent to Azerbaijan, and so far there has been no response, at least in writing, as far as I know,” said the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
When asked whether the proposal was sent after Kazan, he gave a positive response.
“In general, the spirit of the proposals stems from the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ project and the ideas that the Armenian Government has presented in recent years, and the proposals are based on the same principles, that is, sovereignty and jurisdiction,” he said.
To a journalist’s question, how the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia can say that a mutually acceptable solution is possible if there is no response yet, Khandanyan replied:
“From the conversation that took place in Kazan, and certain details there, I assume were discussed, after that you very correctly state that a mutually acceptable solution is possible. When we receive a response, “if possible” will become more material.”
When asked whether it turns out that a separate document is required on the issue of lifting the blockade, which was not sent in the peace treaty, the deputy said that from the point of view of international law, it is not a document, but simply correspondence.
“The section on lifting the blockade was separated in the peace treaty,” Khandanyan said.
