The priority is the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated during the discussion of the 2025 state budget in the National Assembly.
“This year we have had a significant achievement. We have signed the first ever international legal document, the treaty, between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This is the regulation on the joint activities of the two commissions dealing with delimitation, which has entered into force by the National Assembly, has been ratified, has passed the relevant internal procedures in Azerbaijan and has entered into force.
We hope that in addition to the fact that we have already delimited more than 12 kilometers (12.7 kilometers, if I am not mistaken) of the border, and there is an opportunity for peaceful life and activity on both sides of the border. We hope that the further part of our joint border will also be delimited as soon as possible, and we will consider this issue resolved as well,” he said.
Referring to the process of signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Mirzoyan informed that there are still 1-2 formulations, articles left, on which work continues.
“Work on them is continuing more intensively than in the previous period, I would say, more cooperatively, in a more constructive atmosphere, and again (as one of the deputies noted last time) I would like to be cautious-optimistic that we will have a final agreed-upon text of the peace treaty," the minister said.
