Former US President Donald Trump cast his ballot on Tuesday in Palm Beach where he said he’d run his last campaign even if he lost but predicted a “very big victory,” Politico reports.
"If I win I know what I'm going to say, and I don't even want to think about the losing part," he told reporters who asked whether he'd prepared a speech for the evening.
Polls show the race is a toss-up on Election Day, but in Florida Republican voters are far ahead — by more than 1 million ballots cast — when including the tally midday Tuesday as well as mail and early voting. Trump voted at the Morton & Barbara Mandel Recreation Center, where he took questions from reporters alongside his wife, former first lady Melania Trump, and said he didn’t have any regrets about how he ran his 2024 campaign.
“I can’t think of any, to be honest, to use her expression,” he said, referring to how Vice President Kamala Harris told “The View” that she couldn’t think of anything she would have done differently than President Joe Biden.
“I ran a great campaign,” said Trump, who was wearing one of his “Make America Great Again” hats. “I think it was maybe the best of the three.” He predicted that immigration would be the lead issue for voters as they went to the polls, though he added, "We'll see how it pans out."
Asked whether he should call for supporters not to be violent, Trump replied: "Of course, there will be no violence." He added, "My supporters are not violent people," but didn't acknowledge the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Trump also said it was possible some states might not release their results on Tuesday night, calling it an “outrage” for tabulation to take several days. The former president is having a smaller event at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday night and then gathering a group of supporters and journalists at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. He told reporters he was “honored” that podcaster Joe Rogan endorsed him on Monday.
