The EU delegation is in Yerevan to develop a roadmap for negotiations on visa liberalization, said Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan during the discussion of Armenia’s 2025 state budget proposal.
"This year has been unprecedented in advancing the Armenia-EU partnership agenda. We can cite several achievements, particularly in specialized areas like justice, where agreements with Europol and Eurojust were ratified," he noted.
Hovhannisyan stated that two important decisions were made in July—one concerning visa liberalization and another on providing assistance to Armenia through the European Peace Facility. Armenia-EU’s new partnership agenda is also expected to be finalized soon.
“All these steps, of course, will influence the 2025 activities. We have already started negotiations on visa liberalization. This week, from the 5th to the 6th, an EU delegation is in Yerevan to help design the respective negotiation program,” he said.
Security cooperation continues as well, particularly the EU mission’s operations. In this context, Armenia’s participation in EU missions within the framework of the EU’s Common Security and Defense Policy is being finalized.
In 2025, meetings of all statutory bodies established under the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement are planned: the highest governing body, the Partnership Council, which will take place in Brussels, likely in the first quarter, along with the Partnership Committee and the Trade Partnership Committee, which will hold meetings in Yerevan.
"I would like to highlight an important Armenia-EU initiative—the 'Resilience and Growth' program—which is expected to provide Armenia with €270 million in support over four years. This project is currently in its final stages," he concluded.
