Armenian authorities spent over AMD 1 billion (over $2.5 million) for the renovation of the Margara checkpoint on the border with Turkey, State Revenue Committee Chairman Rustam Badasyan has said.
“Initially we planned AMD 800 million but the final expenditures amounted to a bit over AMD 1 billion,” Badasyan told reporters.
The Margara checkpoint was renovated after Armenia and Turkey reached an agreement on opening the land border for citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders, Badasyan said.
“We have created the conditions that are sufficient to serve the flow of the mentioned persons,” Badasyan said.
