Ukraine closely watched the election parliamentary process held in Georgia on October 26, 2024, Foreign Minsitry of Ukraine reports.
We support the conclusions of the OSCE/ODIHR international mission to observe the parliamentary elections in Georgia, which recorded numerous violations.
Bribery, intimidation, coercion and pressure on voters, lack of transparency of voting, restriction of access of opposition parties to the mass media - this is only an incomplete list of violations that will be remembered for these elections.
It is not surprising that their results were highly appreciated and welcomed in Russia, because such methods of influence on the results of the expression of will are characteristic of the Russian regime. At the same time, they are incompatible with the path to the EU and NATO, which the Georgian authorities declare.
The facts established by international observers should be investigated in order to ensure the legitimacy of the elections and avoid a political crisis. We call on the Georgian government not to follow the Belarusian path to the loss of sovereignty and independence.
Under any circumstances, Ukraine will support the Georgian people in their desire to continue the strategic course of joining the EU and NATO.
