"In general, both in the context of COP29 and beyond, we constantly address the issue of the immediate release of prisoners and other detainees in our discussions with Azerbaijan and other partners, as well as other humanitarian issues. There are cases of missing persons, forced disappearances, and so on. This is one of our ongoing discussions and a top priority," Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated during the National Assembly's discussion of the 2025 state budget draft in response to a question from “Armenia” faction MP Armen Rustamyan about linking Armenia’s participation in COP29 with the release of Armenian detainees in Azerbaijan.
Regarding Armenia's participation in COP29, Mirzoyan noted, "Our participation in COP29 is not confirmed in any way. We received the invitation, but we have not given any official response or stance on this matter, and, of course, we do not rule it out. But we need to understand the context of the issue you're referring to".
