“As the only independent institution in this country, I do not recognize the election. Its recognition means the recognition of Russia’s entering Georgia and Georgia’s subordination to Russia,” said Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, Georgian Public Broadcaster reports.
According to President Zourabichvili, Georgian people must defend their choice. In her words, Georgians witnessed “total rigging” with all methods that are practiced in other countries, and Georgia observed utilizing modern technologies in “laundering the rigging.”
The President extended her gratitude to all those who voted for the European future and stressed that “Nobody will steal this choice.”
President Zourabichvili urged Georgia’s partners to stand with the Georgian people as they did when Georgians rallied against the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence.
Salome Zourabichvili also announced the meeting that would take place at Rustaveli Avenue at 7 p.m. on October 28.
“We will stand together with the parties, which protected the European future, the Georgian Charter. I would like to invite you to Rustaveli Avenue at 7 p.m. to tell the entire world that we do not recognize this election. We are defending our constitutional right, we will defend every vote and our future, the opportunity to hold democratic elections in the future,” she said.
