The sixth session of the Armenia-EU Partnership Committee on Trade was held on October 24-25 in Brussels, according to a statement from the Ministry of Economy of Armenia.
From the EU side, the meeting was chaired by Marco Düerkop, Deputy Head of Unit for Europe and Eastern Neighbourhood at DG Trade in the European Commission.
The Armenian delegation was represented by Narek Hovakimyan, Deputy Minister of Economy.During the session, the parties discussed measures being implemented under the trade and trade-related issues section of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA). They also addressed the smooth and effective termination of the use of the geographical indication "Cognac" for products originating in Armenia, as stipulated in Article 237 of CEPA.
Additionally, the technical and financial assistance provided by the EU to support Armenia’s industry and maintain its competitive position in export markets was discussed.The agenda included current developments in trade and investment, technical challenges in trade, and Armenia-EU cooperation, among other related matters.
Under the Dispute Settlement agenda, the Armenia-EU Partnership Committee on Trade decision was signed, and the relevant annexes, including the Code of Conduct, Mediation Mechanism, and Rules of Procedure, will be adopted.
