The petition to initiate a referendum on Armenia's membership in the European Union has been completed ahead of the anticipated deadline, with 60,000 signatures collected, surpassing the required 50,000.
The Eurovote petition headquarters has said in a statement on social media.“This demonstrates not only the aspiration of Armenian citizens for freedom and national dignity but also the political maturity and unity of our society in support of universal values and a European future,” the statement reads.
The initiating political parties and civil society representatives are preparing to submit the collected signatures to Armenia's Central Electoral Commission soon. Following the necessary verification, the draft law will be forwarded to the National Assembly of Armenia for consideration.
