During a briefing, the journalist asked Guillaume Kasbarian, Minister of Civil Service, Streamlining, and Public Sector Transformation of France, whether by strengthening relations in the defense sector with Armenia, France considers the support provided to Armenia sufficient, and whether Armenia is not in danger.
Kasbarian, an Armenian by origin, who before assuming the post of minister, worked as a member of parliament for a long time within the framework of the France-Armenia friendship group, admitted that Armenia is still in danger as it faces constant aggression from neighboring Azerbaijan, whose expansionist ambitions are very strong. At the same time, he assured that France stands by Armenia and is perhaps the only country in Europe, even the only Western country, which is so close to Armenia, and not only in words.
"France provides very active support to Armenia through cooperation. It does this by supplying protective equipment. I think France is the only European country that supplies defense equipment to Armenia. I applaud the actions of Mr. Lecornu, as well as all those who have worked for France to strengthen its strategic partnership and contribute to the defense of this small state surrounded by many enemies."
Guillaume Kasbarian explained that Armenia is a country that is in danger and shares many values with France, starting with democracy. "For that reason, of course, I will always support the Armenians, as the Government does, as France has always supported," the Minister said and expressed hope that France, as a European country that is at the forefront of support for Armenia, will continue that course.
