We have always, and, officially announced Armenia’s positions. Nothing has changed in our positions. What we announced, we announce and will announce. Hayk Konjoryan, Head of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction stated at the parliament, in a briefing with journalists. He answered a question about alleged concessions from one of the journalists, which referred to the letter, Michael Carpenter, Special Assistant to the US President, Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council, passed to Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The journalist asked whether Yerevan has anything to compromise at this time.
“Our team, led by the Prime Minister, has expressed our positions many times,” Konjoryan said.
In response to the question of what Yerevan expects from the US regarding the restoration of territorial integrity, Konjoryan stated, that Armenia is always in discussions with the United States and other partners regarding the peace agenda and establishing lasting peace in the region.
“Regarding the preservation and restoration of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, we noted that today, in fact, there is an area of 207 square kilometers occupied by Azerbaijan from the sovereign territory of Armenia. Besides, we stated that Armenia does not face the problem of restoring its territorial integrity by military means. We believe that there is an opportunity to achieve this goal with political solutions, both within the framework of the border delimitation process and through peace establishment,” said Hayk Konjoryan.
Referring to the signing of the peace treaty, he reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to reach an agreement as soon as possible.
“You remember that at this point we can sign the agreed articles and continue our work on the other articles or clauses. From that point of view, nothing has changed about our provisions, and we are ready to do so in the shortest possible time. That is our approach,” he added.
