Hakob Arshakyan and the NA deputy Lilit Stepanyan met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Malaysia Tan Sri Dato Johari bin Abdul.
“Armenia is interested in activation of multilateral ties, and due to such summits an opportunity is created for developing bilateral relations,” the NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan noted, touching upon the parliamentary diplomacy and underscoring its importance in the inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Highlighting the activity of Friendship Groups, the NA Vice President expressed hope that in the near future Friendship Group with Armenia will also function in the parliament of Malaysia. He also underlined that this meeting is a good beginning and a wonderful occasion to boost the relations between the two legislative bodies.
The interlocutors touched upon the issues on sectoral cooperation and expressed conviction that the two counties have sufficient potential in a number of spheres, as the education, the science and the tourism.
The Malaysian side expressed its readiness to bring bilateral cooperation to a new level.
The Head of the Parliament of Malaysia Tan Sri Dato Johari bin Abdul welcomed the membership of Armenia to the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly with a status of an observer and expressed hope that it would serve for the development of bilateral relations.
