On October 19, the Vice President of the National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan met with the Head of the Parliamentary delegation of India Rameswar Teli within the framework of the 45th Summit of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
The RA NA deputy Lilit Stepanyan is also in the delegation.
Hakob Arshakyan underscored the Armenian-Indian friendly relations with historical-cultural deep basis and noted that the comprehensive cooperation with India is fixed in the priorities of the Government programme.
The NA Vice President highlighted the activation of the inter-parliamentary effective cooperation, noting that the Armenia-India Friendship Group functions in the RA National Assembly.
Reference was made to the bilateral cooperation in the spheres of trade, transport and communication, health, pharmacy, agriculture, culture, high technology, film production, etc.
Speaking about the necessity of boosting the development of tourism and economy, Hakob Arshakyan underlined the importance of direct flights between the two countries, stating that the work is underway to begin the flights in the current year.
The cooperation in the sphere of defense was also singled out.
The sides also spoke about the cooperation between Armenia and India in the spheres of education and culture.
The Indian side thanked the Armenian side for the opportunity given to more than 3000 Indian students for studying.
During the meeting the situation in the region was presented, The NA Vice President touched upon the procedure of the negotiation over the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, presented the Crossroads of Peace project initiated by the RA Government and detailed the key principles acceptable for the Armenian side.
