Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made significant statements regarding the escalating tensions in the Middle East during a joint press conference held with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi. Fidan's remarks focused on Israel's actions and their potential consequences for regional stability.
"Our region is facing an extremely great threat. Israel, which continues genocide in Gaza, is also causing bloodshed in Lebanon. Netanyahu is constantly opening new fronts in the region. He is trying to draw Iran into this war as well. He is threatening to strike Iran's oil and nuclear facilities. Israel's aggressive attitude is forcing Iran to take steps towards legitimate self-defense. Israel must stop its actions and rhetoric that clearly violate international law. I want to repeat the warning we have made since the beginning of the crisis. The risk of war spreading to the entire region should never be underestimated. We are in a tension that could have very serious global repercussions. Regional countries and actors outside the region must avoid taking an irreversible step. As Turkey, we do not want war in our region. We call for prudent and calm behavior in this matter," Fidan said.
