The ministers of European affairs of Germany, France and Poland sent a joint letter to the Georgian authorities calling for "free and fair elections", AFP reports.
According to them, it is necessary to respect the desire of the Georgian people to bring the country closer to the European Union. At the same time, the ministers of European affairs expressed concern about the European future of Tbilisi and called on the population of Georgia to participate in the election of the parliament.
AFP reminds that from December 2023, Georgia has the status of an official EU candidate. However, the process of its membership in the bloc was suspended after the adoption of the law on 'Transparency of Foreign Influence' in the country, which caused mass protests in Georgia. The ministers of Germany, France and Poland emphasized in their letter that the process of the country's accession to the European Union was suspended only because of the current internal political decisions, and the door of the Union "is open and will remain open."
