Armenia's Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan participated in the event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) and the 45th World Congress of Vine and Wine in Dijon, France.
In his welcoming remarks at the event, Papoyan underscored the mission of the OIV and emphasized Armenia's readiness to collaborate with international partners to support the sustainable development of the world wine industry, the Ministry of Economy of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The Minister reflected on the ancient traditions and rich heritage of viticulture and winemaking in Armenia. The minister noted that the Armenian viticulture, recognized by the government of Armenia as a superior branch of the country’s economy, is currently experiencing a revival. Inspired by millennium-old traditions and combining them with modern technology, quality wines that meet international standards are produced in Armenia.
Besides, Papoyan attended the official ceremony of moving the OIV head office to Dijon.
In addition, Gevorg Papoyan met with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of France, Annie Genevard . The parties discussed the possibilities of deepening the Armenian-French cooperation in agriculture.
The Armenian delegation had effective meetings and private talks also with the colleague ministers of a number of countries, and reflected on the possibilities of cooperation in agriculture and winemaking.
