Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan visited Zvartnots airport to inspect the work of the Armenian border guards.
“I became acquainted with the work of the Armenian border guards at Zvartnots international airport in conditions of the new reality,” Pashinyan said on social media, referring to the Russian withdrawal of border guards from the airport.
Russian border guards had been stationed in the airport for decades, until in 2024 the Armenian government gave Moscow until August 1 to remove them from the airport. Pashinyan had said that Armenia has the capacity to carry out border controls in the airport without the help of Russia.
