Why is the 'Crossroads of Peace' project, which exists for a year, not being implemented, Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan raised a question at the 'Crossroads of Peace: combining security and democracy' forum, presenting Azerbaijan's perceptions in this regard.
According to the Prime Minister, the 'Crossroads of Peace' project presented by Armenia worries Azerbaijan because this project can bring tens of billions of benefits to the Republic of Armenia.
"This fact can potentially bring two concerns to Azerbaijan.
First, if Azerbaijan sincerely thinks that Armenia has aggressive plans towards it in the strategic perspective, it can create perceptions that those tens of billions of dollars can be used against Azerbaijan.
But there is also the opposite, that if Azerbaijan has aggressive intentions towards Armenia, it may worry Azerbaijan that those tens of billions of dollars can be used to increase Armenia's defense capability, and Azerbaijan may have problems implementing its aggressive plans towards Armenia. Here I want to objectively say that if the deep concern of Azerbaijan is the first, it is a dissipating concern, because Armenia records that we do not have any aggressive considerations towards Azerbaijan and the countries of the region.
We recognize the territorial integrity of all our neighbors and are ready to undertake de jure obligations regarding it. Moreover, Armenia has recorded that it does not even pose the problem of returning its occupied territories by military means, because the document we signed with Azerbaijan in the delimitation process provides all the opportunities for the delimitation process to take place on a legal basis.
That is, we create essentially all guarantees and will continue on this course so that none of our neighbors not only have no doubts about the existence of our aggressive intentions, but also there are de jure mandatory guarantees that our country will not pursue aggressive policies. But the fact is that, with today's speech, Azerbaijan wants the roads of Armenia to be usable for it, but at the same time, Armenia will continue to be under blockade.
It seems that this is an absurd wording, but our analysis of Azerbaijani speeches shows that the roads will be opened through the territory of Armenia, but Armenia will remain in the blockade. It is clear that this in itself is an illogical approach and this approach cannot be acceptable for Armenia," said Nikol Pashinyan.
