The heads of Bank of America, BlackRock, Standard Chartered and Deutsche Bank are likely to miss the UN Climate Change Conference in Baku. The Financial Times notes that the reason for this is a decrease in business expectations from the conference.
It is said that representatives of the financial sector do not want to participate in COP29, because it will take place only five days after the election of the US president, and during that time the world economy will be in uncertainty. In particular, former US President Donald Trump has announced that the US will withdraw from the Paris Agreement if he is re-elected.
It is also noted that the organizers of COP29 recently announced that they expect the total number of participants to be around 50,000.
