We have adopted a strategy and we must follow that strategy consistently. What Azerbaijan says and does not say, I am not saying we should not listen to it, but on the other hand, it does not mean that we should change our strategy based on everything Azerbaijan says. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this during the Parliament-Government question-and-answer session, referring to the question of Agnesa Khamoyan, deputy of the ‘Armenia’ faction, that Armenia’s Foreign Ministry stated that Armenia does not see the political will to sign the agreed part of the peace treaty on the part of Azerbaijan.
“No, our strategies must not change and we must consistently advance the peace agenda and we must do everything in our power to get that peace treaty signed.
I have also said about the content. There is no need to invent a bicycle in this situation, and the fact that Azerbaijan brings new topics to the field means that it is not very inclined to sign a peace treaty, and our political task is to change the general environment and atmosphere so that signing a peace treaty becomes realistic. That is, until it happens (the signing of the peace treaty - ed.), everyone can say that it is unrealistic.
Now what is the meaning of all those statements, what is the purpose, to distract us from our strategy? We will not deviate from our strategy, regardless of whether these statements are made by forces inside Armenia or outside Armenia. We will implement this strategy while implementing a balancing and balanced foreign policy and regional policy, which is an additional component to ensure our security,” he said.
