Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan has held a meeting with Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mohammad Atabak to discuss possibilities of enhancing commercial relations between the two countries.
Papoyan’s deputy Narek Hovakimyan and the Armenian Trade Attache in Iran Vardan Kostanyan also attended the meeting.Both sides attached importance to the signing of the memorandum of understanding on exchange of goods and services in private sector business development between the Armenian Ministry of Economy and the Iranian Trade Promotion Organization, as well as the opening of the Iranian Trade Center in Armenia.
Minister Papoyan said Armenia is interested with the prospect of opening a trade center in Iran as well.The sides discussed the possibility of Armenia’s participation in the Iranian Chabahar Port.
Papoyan said that as part of the Crossroads of Peace initiative Armenia considers a project of engaging in activities in Chabahar Port, which would be aimed at establishing new routes of Armenian exports and imports.Directions of cooperation in agriculture, particularly livestock farming, beekeeping and poultry production were discussed.
The prospect of cooperation in standardization, compliance assessment, metrological and technical regulation sectors were also discussed.
Ideas were exchanged on infrastructure construction projects and enhancement of partnership in business sector.
