Armenia's Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan on Monday received a delegation led by Iran's Minister of Industry, Mining, and Trade, Seyyed Mohammad Atabak, in order to discuss the possibilities of expanding trade relations between the two countries, the Ministry of Economy of Armenia reports.
The signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Economy of Armenia and the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran on the exchange of goods and services in the business development of the private sector, as well as the opening of the Iranian trade center in Armenia, was underscored.
The economy minister noted that Armenia also is interested in the prospect of having a trade center in Iran.
The parties reflected on the possibility of Armenia's participation in the operations at Iran's Chabahar Port. Papoyan emphasized that Armenia is considering the project of carrying out activities at the Chabahar Port within the framework of the country’s Crossroads of Peace initiative, which will be aimed at establishing new ways of exporting goods from Armenia and importing goods to the country.
The most promising domains of cooperation in agriculture were discussed as well; in particular, animal husbandry, beekeeping, and poultry production.
The parties discussed also the prospect of cooperation between Armenia and Iran in standardization, conformity assessment, metrology, technical regulation, through the exchange of experience and the use of forms of cooperation acceptable to the parties.
The interlocutors exchanged views also on the expansion of cooperation between Armenia and Iran in infrastructure construction projects and in the business sector.
