On September 26, in New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with Badr Abdelatty, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.
The interlocutors discussed issues on the bilateral agenda as well as topics related to regional security.
The Foreign Ministers of the two countries commended the high-level political dialogue and friendly relations between Armenia and Egypt, which were reflected in the discussions and cooperation developed during the high-level visits last year. Ararat Mirzoyan and Badr Abdelatty outlined the specific areas where there is a potential for further development of cooperation and expressed readiness to jointly contribute to its realization to the maximum extent.
The issues of cooperation on multilateral platforms were also touched upon.
The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Egypt exchanged views on the developments in the Middle East. Ararat Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia's principled position regarding the immediate cessation of hostilities, non-targeting of the civilian population, and settlement on the basis of the "two-state" principle.
In the context of the security situation in the South Caucasus, Minister Mirzoyan briefed his Egyptian counterpart on the latest developments in the process of negotiations on the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
