On September 24, in New York, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Volker Türk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
During the meeting, issues of continuous cooperation between Armenia and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights were discussed.
On the way to the establishment of lasting peace in the region, the importance of the Office's involvement in the protection of human rights was emphasized.
The measures undertaken by the Government of Armenia to address the needs of the forcibly displaced Armenian population from Nagorno-Karabakh and the cooperation formed with international partners to this end were touched upon.
Ararat Mirzoyan reiterated Armenia's vision for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region, including efforts towards normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, as well as Armenia's approaches to key issues.
