This visit is a vivid proof of the strong ties, friendship and cooperation that exist between the two countries - Cyprus and Armenia. Cyprus Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas said during a joint statement with Armenia’s Defense Minister Suren Papikyan.
“Our countries have a rich history and share a common cultural heritage with that history, a deep awareness and mutual understanding of the challenges that must be overcome and faced by small states determined to protect their territorial integrity and sovereignty. The activity of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus to Armenia is its pinnacle and confirmation of the high level of cooperation between our countries,” said Vasilis Palmas.
He emphasized that the two countries, Cyprus and Armenia, have already established meaningful and developing relations and cooperation in the fields of security and defense for years.
“Our cooperation includes mutual visits of military personnel, joint military exercises and drills, as well as the field of defense procurement. Cooperation between our armed forces has been further strengthened thanks to this format, but at the same time, mutual respect and mutual understanding have developed. Our relationship is excellent.
Certainly, there is potential to further strengthen that cooperation and relationship, such as expanding the format of joint exercises to explore the format of cooperation in the fields of defense, technology, as well as the format of expanding the format of cooperation in the field of defense of educational institutions," said the Minister of Defense of Cyprus.
