Minister of Defense of Armenia Suren Papikyan has described his Cypriot counterpart Vasilis Palmas’ visit to Armenia as the best evidence of the high level military-political relationship between the two countries.
“The Armenian and Cypriot peoples’ sincere friendship and cultural similarities have a history of many centuries,” Papikyan said at a joint press conference with Palmas in Yerevan.
“These similarities are associated with the religious, cultural and friendly ties between our countries. Thus, Cyprus and Armenia are not only good friends, but also natural allies. This visit is one of the important steps to transform the friendly ties into strong interstate relations.” Papikyan said he had substantial discussions with his Cypriot counterpart around developing defense cooperation, as well as security issues.
“We both recorded that although the Armenia-Cyprus cooperation is on a high level in the defense sector and has been dynamically developing, we still have great untapped potential, which we will realize soon.
The Armenian-Cypriot cooperation is aimed at developing the defense capabilities of both countries, strengthening the security and sovereignty of our countries, as well as contributing to the regional and international stability,” the Armenian Defense Minister said.
He also highlighted the Armenia-Cyprus-Greece trilateral cooperation.
