On 23 September, in New York, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Rabab Fatima, the UN Under Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, Armenian Foreign Ministry reports.
Building on the discussions held last December in Yerevan on the margins of the Ministerial Meeting of the Landlocked Developing Countries, Ararat Mirzoyan and Rabab Fatima emphasized the importance of leveraging cooperation opportunities between LLDCs, transit countries and key international partners.
Minister Mirzoyan emphasized: “We truly believe in the idea behind the promotion of priorities and cooperation among LLDCs, and through our policies and initiatives, we aim to contribute to advancing this agenda to the fullest extent”.
The Foreign Minister of Armenia highlighted the importance of realizing the vision of unblocking and inclusive use of regional communications, the opportunities for which are envisioned within the “Crossroads of Peace” project developed by the Government of Armenia.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the UN Under Secretary-General touched upon the upcoming events, including the adoption of the new Programme of Action at the Third UN Conference on LLDCs in Botswana. Views were exchanged on the initiatives being discussed to advance the priorities of LLDCs across various platforms, as well as on the next chairmanship of the LLDC group.
