President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan addressed a congratulatory message on the occasion of Armenia's Independence Day.
"Dear compatriots,Today we celebrate the 33rd anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia. Over the past three decades, our young republic has faced and overcome significant challenges, sometimes with extraordinary effort, as the newly independent state was obliged to confront the trials of war, economic crisis, and radical transformations in the state administration system almost simultaneously.
However, we were able, as a people and as a state, to strengthen ourselves and rise up, despite the irreversible and heavy losses, finding ways out of seemingly hopeless situations. We succeeded because on September 21, 1991, our citizens took a conscious step towards having a free, independent, and sovereign state.
Dear people,For all of us, independence is not merely a beautiful idea or a self-serving concept, but a continuous movement and struggle to shape our destiny by our own will, to determine the form and nature of our homeland and state independently.
The ultimate goal is a free, responsible, continuously developing, and creative individual and citizen.Freedom, for both the citizen and the state, is a state of mind and content, requiring daily tireless work, care, the joy of dedication, the joy of victory, and the pain of loss, all accompanied by a profound sense of responsibility.
Today, as 33 years ago, the challenges facing our state are not diminished. However, the past decades also demonstrate that any obstacle can be overcome with unity, solidarity, and determination.
I also hope that, for the sake of our present and future, for the safe, dignified, and prosperous future of our children and grandchildren, and for the good of the Republic of Armenia, we remain steadfast in our decision to secure our own place among the nations of the world.
I am confident that the Armenia of our dreams will be built through the collective efforts of our citizens.Once again, I congratulate us all on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Republic of Armenia,” reads the message.
